56 Truck

Did some thinkin and figured ill get back and kickin on my 56. Ill use the Sierra as a daily and keep the static drop. Ill have a 350 or 454 dont know yet, I have both. Section the bottom of the cab to bring the body line closer to the fender line. Chop up a s10 bed to fit and put the step side fenders on and graphy the old tail gate design back to the s10 tailgate. Do a mild chop top to keep the cab perportioned. I already added the Camero front clip on and the frame Z'd up front and in the rear. Ill have Hector from Destinc Fab. do control arms and a fuel cell. Im going to run a triangle 4 link on the rear. Maybe lay it on 22/24s billets.

That looks like an extremely long term project.

I love the old Chevy's Glad to see it's under the knife and we get to see updates.

There old pictures I've found on the comp. That whole area is clean again. It will be a while before it gets done but it will get done. I rather have a layed out 56 then a 90 layin frame. Haha it's cool farmer I tend to do the same when I don't feel like reading.

sounds like some good plans. Not like you want my 2 cents or anything, but i'd hate to see you put the s-10 bed on it. I know its a little easier but in my opinion when I see people do this it always ends up looking like a late model bed on an older Classic truck. Not to say it won't look nice when your done, it justisn't my thing. i guess because i have a passion for the classic trucks. but keep us posted on the progress i'd like to see it as it comes along.

Yea I get what your saying. Alot of people when ever the put a different bed they always end up looking like shit. Only reason I was thinking s10 is because of the way the sides are shaped. They are rounded like the 56. I was going to square off the back so it still keeps its old looks and also add that lip the old beds use. I still have the original bed its just disassembled.

Hell I'll just use the stock bed. I like the way how it looks. So anyone need a s10 bed?

Good decision man. Both will look good, but the stock bed will look best. Get some updated pics when you can. you got my attention.

Good to hear. I don't know about in your are but my pops and built a 55 F-100 and we had a sheet metal shop break a new bed out of new metal in 4 pieces 2 sides head bord and tail bord (no tailgate) and we just welded it all together ourselves. It could be an option if you think you won't be able to get yours straight enough for paint or whatever.

Anyone know were to find a desent cab thats not rusted to hell? Checked craigslist and there are only 2 or 3 small window 55-59 cabs and there rusted out.

Ill be rocking these for a little while untill I get some other wheels. There the wheels I kept from my Blazer. 20x8.5.

I'm glad you opted for the stock bed too. There is one that goes to autorama that has an s10 bed and it's not that cool.

Found the information I needed for wheel base to get the frame done. After all the holidays are over ill go hunt down a late 90's blazer disk brake rear end and get it done.

I have a motor now. A Tuned Port 350 iRoc Motor. Its a crate motor. Ill post some pictures up monday when I have it in the garage.

Doesn't the term crate motor generally mean new? Nice anyways. You get the computer to, or gonna strip it and carb it?

Its been sitting for years. It was a brand new motor but my cousin took it apart to put the plenum on his 305 and it didnt fit so it stayed in peaces for 5 or 6 years. I have everything, starter, ac compressor, power steering pump, all brackets, distributor. No going to keep it tune port.

Sweet, it'll look good stuffed in that 56.

Heres is a little update. Got the frame to Rojo & Hector's shop. Got a 98 Jimmi (Blazer) disk brake rear end. And found a stock bed in good shape for 100 bucks. Also got bored and threw one of my 20"s inside of one of my fender.
