My f150 is 2linked with panhard.. with bag on bar...

1. When layed out.. the axle is shifted into the pass side bed enuff for the tire to SLIGHTLY rub

2. I ALWAYS have to ride with the rear untucked and never cali due to pinion angle..

I cant wait to get rid of the 2link/panhard to get rid of that axle shift and to be able to ride at any height without issues with pinion angle/driveshaft.... i have NEVER been into side to side and am not switch happy one bit.. i lift to ride height cruise get to point b and lay it out.. occassionally lay it out at a light... but man i wanna be able to have the rear at any height without pinion issues due to the 2 link...

I've had an Ekstensive two link for years and can ride a 1/4 in off the ground or 4x4 style "which i never do" and have never had any problems even with 20 by 10s in tucked up tight.

It`s not thats it harder to do a 4-link, time was really more my concern. I may have to go that route anyway if the 2-link shifts too much cause I ain`t got but about a 1/2" between the fenders and wheels.

how much more time do you think it would take to setup a triangulated 4link than its gonna take you to setup a 2link and panhard bar?
my money says not much.

a 2 link with a watts would be much better than a panhard. just imo those ekstensive 2 links work but that bag does not look comfortable in its pocket..

I can't believe there is honestly a discussion taking place about a 2 link and how some people have it and it works great.

It by definition cannot work as well as a 4 link.

Sorry, 97 Dually this isn't against you by any means it is just a serious pet peave of mine.

2 link is the quint essential half assing, that is why there are 2 less bars. It changes the pinion angle too much if you plan to have much travel at all, they don't allow the rear end to articulate for things like bumps curves driveways etc... without overstressing bushings.

The panhard is a joke unless you can make it long as hell, again this ties into how much travel you plan to use though. If you only plan on moving it 1-2" great, but other wise you will be shifting your rearend a lot. In extreme cases this could cause catasrophe on a bumpy highway as your rearend tries to drive you somewhere else.

The amount of money you would spend on a watts link vs a panhard you could just buy two more bars and triangulate them.

Again, sorry for the rant, I see too many well known shops pumping out this crap and they do it because the customer is cheap or they can simply make more money. That doesn't make it the ideal suspension.

More importantly though, the truck looks great laid out in the front, can't wait to see it laying in the rear too. Dually's are always nasty laid out

If that is all you took from that then so be it.

I clearly have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to suspension design so I'll just keep my mouth shut from now on.

Building a truck that will handle well, ride well, and is designed well is more important to me than if the color combo and wheels look good.

F it

dude thats not all i got out of that..i agree with u 100 percent on the 4 link being better..i just dont appreciate the halfass comment...we put just as much work into our rides as you do and we take alot of pride in our stuff and just because we did something a little different doesnt make it half assed....i apologize if i made ya mad im not trying to start an argument..

I'm sorry if it came off conceded, and I agree the halfass comment might not be appropriate.

My biggest argument is why a 2 link? just why? It can't be justified by looks or quality.

And yes, I did see the other comments before they were deleted. I'm frustrated in general right now with a lot of things which is why it seems like I snapped. I just don't understand how there is truly a discussion about what to run.

The only reasoning you can say is, I can't afford to do it right the first time. 2 links are factually a worse suspension than a triangulated, or parallel, or wishbone style setup. To me, to a degree, not doing something right the first time is half assing it, which is where this comment came from.

I'm not trying to point out who on this site has what suspension, I just can't see having an open discussion about the situation and justifications popping up of "so and so had it and it worked fine" or "such and such company makes kits". These are excuses not justifications

Sorry again, for the comments in this post

Mike, I do apperciate your point of view. I agree, in most cases, a 2-link might not be the best route to go. I had it in my head to do a 2-link becuase I wasn`t really concerned with alot of travel. I know a 4-link is alot better, and I`ll probably end up going that route anyway.

The other reasons behind the 2-link was time and money. I`m self employed and have a 21 month old daughter that I have to take care of at night because my wife works 3rd shift, so my time is very limited. Window tinting is off right now as everything else is and that means a limited budget for the time being.

Cornett, thanks, and yes I`ve thought about a watts link. Like Mike said, the time and money involved in doing it that way points me back at a 4-link. The more I look at it, the 2-link bars would be long as hell, and I don`t like that idea, so it`s gonna end up getting a 4-link in the end.

I'm not sure where your gas tank is now but if you don't need to move it to lay out you might even consider doing a "wishbone style". Where you have an upper bar going straight ahead on one side of the vehicle and have another bar that jogs around the gas tank and angles over to the other side of the rear end.

Are you doing bag over axle? I know guys that tow with them typically suggest this for weight distribution.

If you think you might go the three link/wishbone mount style and need a bar bent up just let me know. If you send me a tube 1 1/4 DOM and let me know where you want your bends and such I would be happy to take care of it for you.

I am planning the wishbone style so i don't have to go through all the headache of a fuel cell or relocating my tank.. as well

yea I also heard for towing to do bag over axle.. if bag on bar it tends to twist the bars even with the bags centered on the bars and what not...

another thing is how much bed you want to cut-out/rebuild/re-cover . it should be considerably less floor to lose with a two link because no pesky wishbone/upper bars . the panhard will be in the same location as the notch .
