PostSubject: Camera Selection help....   Camera Selection help.... EmptyThu Oct 29, 2009 11:20 pm

So I'm in the market for a DSLR so I can take better pics at shows, my Virginia Beach Vaca in May, Riding, and just to start shooting more pics...
Wondering what you guys use and what you guys think?

I've been looking at Nikon D40's... My buddy has one, which I love the speed and quality of pics, but I really want live view...

Started looking at the XSi, it has liveview, you can buy a remote, take shots in sequence (awesome for riding), and i found one new with warranty and what not for less then $500.

Anyone have any input into it?

the 18-55 canon lens is an ok lens, I wouldnt even consider it a foctor on buying a camera...I have an XTi and an older D60 canon...I love the XTI, and the image quality makes up for the lack of speed from the D60...
IMO I would save up and get a 30D or newer canon and look at getting a 28-135 IS lens. I am looking at picking up a 30D soon...you can usually find factory refurbs on B&H for around 600$ ...another place to look is www.photographyonthenet.com...since the new 7D has came out a lot of semi pro guys selling to upgrade...

A guy I know that shoots for street trucks use this one... I love it cuz its got live view and the screen flips out so you can get those nice low point of view shots without laying on the ground.... I personally have the A200 and love it, but this will be my next upgrade in the near future.
