1961 Apache I'm restoring for my dad.. lots of pics.. (updated 2/9/10)

well my dad picked this extremely clean 1961 apache up a lil while back. he said he wanted it all re-done so thats where im at now. he said he wants it to have that classic stock look and be comfortable to drive.. so i went to summit, lmc truck, and vintage air and had some fun. got a gm crate engine, disc brakes and all new suspenion and performance goodies.. called lmc and bought all new interior stuff, all the chrome goodie and a pretty oak bed kit.. and called vintage air and bought a full a/c system with matching fully polished serpentine belt setup.. tore it all down and dragged it to yankee and told him i wanted it 1961 tartan turqouis and white and how i wanted it two-toned out. just got it home monday night and this is where im at so far.. ill be posting pics regularly as i come along..

well i got a lil more progress done on it tonight.. man it sounds stupid but what a pain in the ass it was to put a 350 in this thing and have it clean and straight. aparently the 60 to 62 apache10 wasnt available with a 350.. it was with a 283 and i know smallblocks are smallblocks. anyways this thing had a fuel injected 4.3 in it that had some crooked ass booger mounts someone made. also i couldnt find a smallblock mount that would allow everything to line up correctly. well tonight i got a pair of 87 c10 motor mount brackets to line up pretty close with little modification.. well the motor is in and the cab is on.. almost done with the wood and i pick the rest of the front end up from the paint shop sat. so hopefully ill get a lot stuff done on sunday.. enjoy...
here's my buddy jessie hackin off whats left of the old 6 cyl tranny mount.. if you look closely you can see the old nasty motor mounts which were made of a couple pieces of c-channel half ass welded together.

dude, nice ass project! i had the opportunity to do some work on one for my sister's neighbor, just putting on stock suspension and a fuel cell, but they are nice when they are done up. i think he still has a new gas tank for it if you need one, i can check on it. keep up the good work...

thanks man.. i bought everything new.. he said he doesnt care what it costs this is what i want.. so i ordered everything brand new..

also i got a lot done this weekend.. ill upload more pics tonight when i get home.

i wouldn't say the f150 was done fast... but this one is goin pretty fast and smooth for the most part... hope to have it completely together by the end of next week... maybe i can have it at blooddrag..
