| Ok so my Sons S10 has an intermittent sputter. We've replaced Plugs, wires, cap, rotor button, temp sensor, map sensor, coil, fuel filter, fuel pump, and now the computer. If you unhook the map sensor and force the cpu into default mode it will run fine and not sputter, but run rich as hell of course. Its a 93 4.3 sonoma. Anybody got a Clue on this damn thing?
It does it while driving, sometimes wont do it all day, sometimes does it as soon as you pull off. If you floor it it goes like mad and will clear up. Putter around and it starts bucking and sputtering like crazy. Thinking of pulling the dash and doing a complet rewire on the damn thing.

| could be the injectors but they are not cheap to replace. I think when I did mine they where like 60 bucks each. water in the gas? I have also heard of the intake working loose in the back and causeing them to run rough. | |

Completely drained the tank and cleaned it out when I replaced the pump. Don't think the intake, it would have acted up when spraying stuff looking for a vacuum leak, I think.. Lol. I'm going to do some wiring tomorrow, I think maybe a ground somewhere, if not I'll throw a set of injectors in there, throttle body so there's only 2.

thats what I was thinking... how many miles? I had a 4.3 with about 150k... had a bad skip under load... turned out to be a stretched timing chain... timing was off just enough under load to cause a misfire... Know any technicians around that still have a Tech 1 that you could plug in and check all your sensor readings and see if they are withing their tolerance...?

With the map sensor unplugged it runs like a bat outta hell. A lot of the time even with it plugged in it runs fine. Just every once in a while it will go to shit.

| make sure there is a GOOD ground strap running to the frame from the motor. I just remembered that I had that problem a long time ago and the strap was coming apart so I replaced it and it was fine after that. if you decide to change wiring harnesses make sure the harness you get is from the same year truck or change the engineside and the one under the dash. I tried to put a 91 engine harness to a 93 dash harness and the truck wouldn't run. had to change the both to cure the problem. let us know what you figure out. | |

Don't know why but never thought of the engine ground strap. I'll check that next sunny day. Thanks.
