| 99 3.0' runs and drives great 99% of the time, but twice now it's killed over in traffic at a light. Will just idle down, start spitting and sputtering and die. Both times have been on hot days, when it dies, its a pain in the ass to get going again, but then runs fine till you stop, then it will idle down and sputter till dies. Doesn't do it all the time, and like I said seems heat related. Anyone heard of this?

| Thers a steel tube comeing from the EGR that runs down the fire wall off the back of the motor. Should have some sort of woven fabric sheilding around it. They rust and rot out. Check that. If not check the voltage at the fuel pump at running temp, mite be getn hot and shutting down on ya at idle. I had a 98 with a 3.0 that was doing that shit. that was my cure. The combination of bolth. Hope this finds you useful. I hate issues like that. Good luck buddy. | |

| my 2005 or 2004 work truck did the same thing the ranger has from what i was told, a fuel pump cutt off under the dash on the pas side. mine had a bad switch that would trip on it's own and reset when i pulled the key out it would start back up with a little effort.and be fine for about a day, after i had the pump replaced and it did it again some guy in a shadly lookin shop in pa bi-passed the switch and i never had an issue again.
