| Very nice! Your coming along quick! Might I suggest two things. 1. Plating the tops and bottoms of the link bars where you sectioned them. 2. They make a threaded square tubing bung for what you used the round tube for. Its the little things that clean it up. Keep it up man! | |

time was an issue for me, there is like 3 places that make parts in the usa, and all other places get it dropped shiped from them. i did not have 4-8 weeks to waite on them to ship me square bung inserts. so i opped to find a 4 link local that had a od of 1.5 and sleaved it in 2x2with a .250 wall. i whent with the .250 wall for 2 things. one it would fit the round tube snug, and i felt the thickness of the wall would not need a guesset. i would have just used the round tube for the 4 link but to keep it under the back seat it needed bends. it would work fine, and has been done a 1,000x but i dont care for bent round tube bars. dont ask me why, its just me being odd lol. thanks for the feed back, i know i sound like a dick lol im not trust me lol if you feel that i do need to do it tho plz feel free to share why, i dont know that much about this i just learn as i go its just my hobby you know.lol thanks for all the feed back hope to have more to share, and work on, or with some of you guys trucks. im in central fl area, and im coming back into the truck scene after leaving it for the past 2 years to just work on others trucks. hope to share my trucks with you as soon as i have time for them.

| There are plenty of places that make the threaded bung. For example. http://thorbros.com/4-link-parts/4-link-bar-bung-kits/square-4-link-bung-poly-bushings
Even though the bags are not mounted on the bars, there is still pull on the bars them selves from the axle traveling and torque pull. More than anything, plating those bars where they've been cut is, if anything, a just to be safe move. Sure its 1/4 wall, but not only did cutting and welding fatigue the metal, but you removed metal from the thickness part, unless you beveled the T Total hell of of the material, so it's no longer 1/4 wall where your cuts are.
I know how you feel, so don't worry about pissing in my cheerios, we all started somewhere. I guess just be thankful that your surrounded by people who are willing to share info with you, and try to help you out.

| not looking to start a pissing match lol just trying to learn, if you do a standed bevel butt joint on any tube and keep the weld under 500* how does it over stress the tube? it is a "weak" point in the tube, just like the seam that they use to join it when its made. all are strees points. but think about a standed dom tube with a wall thikness of .250 just like the square tube i have, how many set ups have you seen were the upper links are instead of bent cut and angled. prb one out of 10 set ups, i have yet to see one fail. now take this into thought, a round tube has a od dimater of 1.5, the weld face is 1.5 x3.14= 4.71 now take a 2x2 square with a weld face of 2x4=8 so i have a weld larger weld area by 3.29 inches. granted you have to take in that there is grater face do to that the angles add to both. yes there is endless facters that make a diffrence and we can get into flex charts and what not, just keep in mind i hang steel structures for a living lol

| yea its to the point to were im putting the nuts on bolts and fixing all the other little bs stuff on the truck so he has no prbs with it.
all i have left to do is weld new tubs in and seam seal them, then i will paint and under coat what needs it, bolt the bags in, bolt the gas tank in, rehook the wires up, hook the air lines up, fill the diff back up,(all do that now) hook break lines up and bleed them, put gas in it, take it to the exhust shop,
thats all i can think of.
after i drive it around all want to check out how the rearend is alined and see if its still good or if it needs moved a little.
Its came out really nice, it looks better in person. and every one that has come over to see it tells me russ should be veary happy with it haha
