| on the older rangers you have to replace the tranny cross member and relocate the radius arms to get them to lay flat up front. Also the upper bag mount is welded in place on these so placement of that affects how low you would go to. | |

| 2000 is control arms, I thought it was an 93-97 suspension. In that cast the engine cross member and tranny cross member is holding it up. theres only a couple places that make a tranny cross member for the newer rangers and the front has to be Z'd 2" to clear the frame. Thats the only way to make the newer ones lay flat.

| yea, you cut the frame up by the firewall and raise the front section up so the engine cross member doesnt hang below the frame, then weld it back in place and plate it up, you have to cut the front frame horns and drop them back down so everything matches back up. on a 98+ 2 wheel drive Ranger its 2"..I know on a 4 wheel drive the engine cross member is quite a bit biger and from what i have read its closer to 3 1/2" for the 4x4...The problem is two fold, one it raises the tranny and engine up and you wont be able to clear a stock hood and you will have to re build your tranny hump, it also raises your front suspension up so you have to have a lot of travel to un tuck a big wheel. I know on my 99 with a 2 1/2" Z it takes a 2500 bag 180 psi to clear the 20's to turn, and it barely clears the fender...thats why I am going to a 2600 bag up front...less pressure and a little more lift. As far as the engine not clearing the hood, I know you can section the oil pan and lower the engine back down. now if you have a 4 cyl or the 4.0 you may not have as much problem as me clearing the hood..seems the 3.0 v6 is the tallest because of the placement of the throttle body and TPS. | |

| if this kid dosent know what z ing the frame is. Should he even be asking to start a chapter. i think that in the mini truck build book, z ing a frame is after 4 link and before switch box wiring and is he forgetting that he owns a 4X4 | |

| and the joke is you could spend hundreds of hours and thousand of dollars to get your 4x4 to lay, or you could undo what u allready did, and sell it and get a 2 wheel drive. i think that this is the best advice out there
but if u decide to spend the time and money in the end its still a 4x4 and kinda dumb

gotta start somewhere man, no one ever said he was going to be starting a chapter tomorrow, not everyone knows how to build a truck as soon as they start working on vehicles, some of this stuff may be new to him...different strokes for different folks as far as the 4x4 thing goes but not my personal preference either, but you dont have to hate on him for it though | |

| So let me get this right the front end isn't bagged right now, just the back..have you looked under the front to see what you will have to do to bag it and keep 4 wheel drive?..I have been doing some research for you, but want to know if you have looked under the front to see what you are getting into.. | |
